I finally finished orientation and what a busy schedule that was! So basically, got on the plane for an overnight flight to NY on Monday night and arrived at NY Tuesday morning at 5AM. I looked so bad and then took the subway to W.4 and got off. The subway ride was totally fine but once I got off, I totally got lost. Whether it was because I was too anxious and didn’t really care about if I was going right or what not or whether it was becauseit was too early and I wasn’t yet awake. But either way, I was lost.
First thing was trying to get out of the subway station. I got up one floor and it was all empty so I got kind of scare, but I setill didn’t which exit! There was “exit 8th st.” “exit 3rd street”…..and I thought I just get off at w.4!! So I just chose some random street and headed toward that exit. Then went through some men who creeped me out…and walked out now knowing where I was AT ALL. But of course, first, I tried acting normal by going to Starbucks and bought something to drink. Then I walked to some street and went the wrong way and started walking back. Then finally saw Washington Square Park. So started to look for Brittany Hall. I had to walk around the park and around the streets and finally asked osme security guy at Kimmel Center for directions to Broadway. I probably looked super retarded walking around with a bright red suitcase.haha and then I finally reached Broadway.
So I reach Broadway, I turn left, then right and decide right is probably the right way so I walk a couple of blocks. After a few I started wondering if I was right but I kept going thinking that maybe W.10th will come up. After 5 to 6 blocks I finally gave in and found someone decent to ask for directions. Turns out I was supposed to walk the other direction.== SO, I walk back those 5 or 6 blocks past the corner I was first on when I reached Broadway, and then another 5 blocks to reach W.10th street. By then I was sweating and exhausted from walking fast and not stopping. Thank God I finally reached Brittany.
The first roomate I met alreayd stayed there for a night, since she was from Taiwan and we got along right away. The room was SO old and kind of gross but really roomy since it was a suite.(After staying there though, you don’t really mind the dingy and oldness of the rooms because 75% of the time you really literally are outside.) And then after went to Kimmel for welcoming. Started to meet new people but not a lot but w/e. Then we went to ice breaker thingy, and found out a little about everyone and then took language placement exams. Then lunch. At lunch met a really good buddy:)and then went to the registration talk thing.
After registration talk went to 16 Handles which is exactly like Cherry On Top and Yogurtland except it’s $0.49 instead or $0.39….><stupid NY ahaha then we went back to the dorms. I, feeling excited to have time to shop and explore, went out again to walk around on Broadway. Bought the t-shirts I had promised and felt so proud of myself for actually bargaining for them even though it was a easy guy.LOL then went back and took a nap.
I was supposed to be downstairs in the lobby by 4:45 but I overslept and didn’t wake up until 5:00 which by then, everyone left. So I stood outside and was about to go with this other group when they found me and I felt bad for them…ooops. and then dinner and the dance, which was really AWKWARD. No one really knew each other and it was just awkward. PLUS I don’t really dance so….
After the dance, I went back to the dorm and finally met all my nice roomates and we talked until about 12:30, 1AM? which was totally awesome, and what I imagined dorm life to be like.
Next morning, had to wake up at 7:30 AM, grrrrrr and then went to eat breakfast which was surprisingly good! Then the start of course registration and ID picture taking. My ID picture looks horrible== but my schedule kind of makes up for it because I have a pretty nice schedule! Nothing back to back, all spread out evenly. But I found out today Korean I is full and I might not be able to take it T.T After that was lunch and then we got our book, Triangle (which is ok, as of right now) and check out. Went around the city some more. Finally found a Pinkberry.LOL and then tried looking for Ktown but I swear, no one in NY knows about it so failed at that but then had to rush back for the plane ride back to LA. It got delayed like about an hour and finally got home at 2AM. And guess what? Work bright and early at 8AM. Sweet life, huh?haha
